I love imagery where God is compared to the King, with the war between the Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness. There are numerous Bible verses that describe this truth. Colossians 1:13 says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” Psalm 145:1 declares, “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.”
God is often described as majestic. 1 Chronicles 16, which talks about the Ark of the Covenant, includes a song of praise. Verse 27 says, “Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.”
Majesty (noun)
Marriam-Webster Dictionary
- Sovereign power, authority, or dignity
- Used in addressing or referring to reigning sovereigns and their consorts
- royal bearing or aspect; greatness or splendor of quality or character
Psalm 93:1-2 says,
The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
Your throne was established long ago;
you are from all eternity.
God is the Ruler of the Kingdom of Light, the Creator of it all. He existed before all that He made, timeless. But He created the beautiful Kingdom of the Universe to share with His creation, including us, those made in His image. It was perfect, like God is perfect.
But then the Enemy rebelled against the King, choosing to make himself king instead, thinking he could do better than the True King. He tricked and manipulated those made in the King’s image into rebelling too, and running away from the Kingdom of Light. Those made in His image chose their own desires instead of the King, seeking their own glory, just like the Enemy.
The King could have just destroyed them all. In a second the Kingdom of Light could have overcome the Domain of Darkness. But that would have meant sentencing all of those made in the King’s image to eternal judgement for their actions. And the King loved them. So he made a plan.
Through messages sent into the Domain of Darkness, some delivered by the King Himself, the King chose a man who still yearned for the Kingdom of Light. That man’s descendants became a people, living in the Domain of Darkness, seeking to still follow the True King, not the Prince of the World. But it is not easy living as foreigners, and they kept messing up, constantly bowing down to the Prince of the World, the Enemy, instead of the True King, their Creator. But the King knew that would happen. He still had a plan.
He appointed messengers, prophets to deliver His words, warning His people to turn back to Him. The messengers were scorned and rejected. Like He knew they would. And yet He still continued His plan.
There was no way those living in the Domain of Darkness would be able to cross over to the Kingdom of Light. They were just too dark, too sinful. And the Enemy’s most dangerous servant, Eternal Death patrolled the border, striking down any who drew near to cross over. So the King decided to bring the Kingdom of Light to them. He left His throne to rescue His people, those made in His image. Because He loved them.
And yet even those that He had chosen rejected Him. Only a small number recognized Him for the True King that He was. And the Enemy, the Prince of the World, stirred up his people into killing the King, the True King. The Enemy sent upon the King his warrior: Eternal Death.
But the King, the True King, the King of Light, of Glory, of all the earth, the King of All Life could not be bound by the shackles of Death. No weapon of darkness can kill the Light. Even as Eternal Death struck what should have been the fatal blow, the True King defeated him, striking him down.
But if He brought judgement to the Domain of Darkness, then He would condemn those made in His image to separation from Him forever. His defeat of Eternal Death freed up the border so that those who wished could cross over to the Kingdom of Light.
The True King charged His followers to tell everyone about the Glorious News so that they could reach the Kingdom of Light. It was available to all who would just resolve to follow the True King and make their way to the Kingdom of Light. And He didn’t leave them alone. The King Himself remained among them, though few ever actually saw them. He left those made in His image gifts, gifts of Courage and Strength and Faith and Love and so many wondrous things from the Kingdom of Light. Whenever anyone accepted His gift of Faith, he would write their name in His book, guaranteeing forever their citizenship and passage into the Kingdom of Light. And whenever He deemed that one’s time had come to leave behind forever the Domain of Darkness, he summoned a chariot driven by Eternal Peace to bring them home.
The True King will wait for a long time, for as many people possible to accept His gift of Faith. But there will come a time when He will return in Power with all His Armies of Light to defeat the Domain of Darkness once and for all, striking down the Enemy and all who ally themselves with him. (Read Revelation 19:11-21). But those who are written in His book will be delivered to the Kingdom of Light. (Revelation 21-22).
I would appreciate it if you would subscribe, or at least comment. It helps motivate me to know that people are at least pretending to read this. And even if you have a negative comment about what I’m writing, I would like to hear that too.
